Subject: ALB Holodeck 14: Ensign Sinclair Reports From: firestorm4@hotmail.com ("Christine Clark") Date: 1997/10/10 Message-ID: <19971011045927.26103.qmail@hotmail.com> Newsgroups: alt.starfleet.rpg SD 091011 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ALB Oblong Office ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "I understand that you are allergic to cats," FireSong's voice was sympathetic, "so I won't keep you any longer than necessary. I'm assigning you to Holodeck 14. Lieutenant Commander Doctor April Carlisle will be your instructor. "Good luck, Ensign Rhona Sinclair, and welcome to Armstrong Lunar Base." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Outside ALB Oblong Office ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Rhona inhaled sharply and audibly, and sneezed forcefully into her ready handkerchief. Looking very much as if that had hurt, she sneezed again as she left the office behind. Her eyes ran and she dabbed at them gingerly, not wanting to look like some first-day cadet with a broken arm. *Holodecks,* she thought, *now there's an easy one.* She slipped a PADD out of her day-bag and began skimming the first text she'd found on artificial intelligence. Not one of her better choices, admittedly, but it covered the subject area, she supposed. It was hard to find good reading material these days. While making mental notes on what to cover first, and where she'd need some more information, Rhona wondered about Doctor Carlisle, and what simulation she was likely to pitch... who her fellow trainees would be and how they'd complement her own abilities. And if she'd have to make some hard choices... not that she would hesitate. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Outside Holodeck 11 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Two other Ensigns stood facing LCDR. Carlisle in the Holodeck, with it's yellow-on-black gridline appearance. Rhona had always thought it looked like a giant cage, though that was far from rational... it still brought a smile on though. She felt her stiff posture unconsciously give, as her eyes rested finally on the instructor, and she felt uneasy as she stepped into the holodeck, her tentative steps attracting Carlisle's attention. Rhona almost froze as the instructor turned round to look at her. "Ensign Rhona Sinclair reporting for training!" she squeaked. *Get a grip, young lady,* she scolded herself, clearing her throat and hoping for the best. --NRPG-- Chris: Did have Sivaoans in mind for that allergy .
